Season 1

MS Congeniality TV

TV here we come. MS Congeniality TV made its debut on television for the first time in fall 2019. The Gulfport, MS station WXXV-TV picked up the 30 minute show, and we hit the ground running. Our first episode was at the home of a lady I termed the “Princess of the Coast,” the beautiful, classy, social media star Tessy Lambert.

After that we interviewed several interesting people in the area that you may or may not even know lives here like Mark Everson — a man who ran the IRS and ran for president in 2016, Becca Vanderford — construction barbie, LeKeisha Cotten — a gospel music star, and the one and only Chappy (John Chapman) — coast celebrity chef.

Once fall was in full swing, we did Cruisin’ the Coast right here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast with a fabulous 1913 outfit to match the 1913 Ford Model T that we got to drive. But that’s not all. We also cheered again with the long beach high school cheerleaders, searched for ghosts at a haunted library, and celebrated a sweet Halloween with the one and only Jonathan Brannan.

One of my favorite interviews from season 1 was with the African-Hawaiian boutique owner Lexi Williams. She taught us how to tie a headscarf! We also re-decorated my porch with exterior designer Catherine Arensberg and flew in a hot air balloon in natchez at the Great Mississippi River Race. The segment with Gold Tap Honey was a spontaneously sweet gem too. (Go watch it if you haven’t yet.)

This season would not have been the same without our Mr T… Tyler Cambre. Tyler was in every single show as plant-based chef with Next Day Nutrition. He taught us how to make several vegan dishes including the infamous carrot dog at Cruisin’ the Coast! We even toured his condo in Biloxi.

Looking good is always important, huh ladies?!?! So the season included some beauty treatments like the Fotona 4D facelift, the official Ms Congeniality blowout from Antonion Salon and we got tips for beautiful skin after 30 from Face & Body in Bay St Louis, Mississippi.

We ended the season on a high note with the official tour of the Lazy Magnolia Brewery by Mark Henderson — one of our main sponsors — and a ride in a tesla by his wife Leslie. We followed that with a fun alfresco Farm-to-Table segment in Pass Christian, Mississippi and an International Festival in Biloxi. Then we featured one of the coast’s most popular real estate agents and TV hosts, the one and only Holly Raymond.

But the most memorable segment of all came in the season finale show. I wanted to give awards to the special people who made our first season of shows successful. One of our young coast community leaders and a good friend of mine, Arturo Barajas, was battling cancer, and I wanted to give him the recognition for all of the work he’d done for our region.

His interview is the most precious and God inspired interview I’ve ever done. It was planned as a way of honoring Arturo Barajas’s success while pushing for financial support for his potentially life-saving treatments. Today it’s a beautiful last interview full of wise advice and deep reflection. He was certainly closer to God when we filmed, I can see that now.

With deep sorrow and a humble heart, I present to you “All He Wants for Christmas is Healing.” May it tug at your heart today and remind you too to stop and smell the roses.
