Mrs. Mississippi American to Promote Youth Exchange in Mississippi
MS Congeniality TV host and producer Jaimee Dorris is Mrs. Mississippi American 2020. Dorris is well known in Coastal Mississippi for her upbeat personality and wearing formal ball gowns on her lifestyle TV show called MS Congeniality. The show airs seasonally on WXXV-TV.
Now Dorris will represent the Magnolia State on a much larger stage. She will compete for the title of Mrs. American in March 2021 in Las Vegas. “This is a huge honor for me. I didn’t grow up as a beauty queen, so it’s been such a fulfilling journey to become one as an adult and inspire other ladies to do the same,” Dorris says.
Dorris comes from humble beginnings in South Mississippi and credits her Rotary Youth Exchange experience to Brazil in high school with opening her horizons. Within a year she had friends all over the world and spoke Portuguese fluently. Now as a Rotary Youth Exchange advocate, she wants to help more American teens blossom with the same opportunity. “Youth Exchange doesn’t just affect the student, it affects their family, their school, and their entire community. It’s a game changer for sure!”
Dorris and her Rotary team are filming a new commercial promoting youth exchange. She also began the “Life Without Borders” youth exchange scholarship and plans to award the first student in May 2021.
“Not enough American teens even know youth exchange is an option for them. Our commercial will get the word out,” Dorris says. “Those who do know about it oftentimes can’t afford it. This new scholarship will help lessen that burden.”
“Imagine a world where every teenager gets to study abroad. If that doesn’t create world peace, I don’t know what will!”
Mrs. America features the most accomplished married women of America. The winners of Mrs. America and Mrs. American go on to compete at Mrs. World.
